Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how WIENER (“WIENER”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information about you when you use our mobile application and our website at wiener.wtf (together, the “Service”). WIENER is an online party-games app where you play games with friends over group voice chat. We are committed to handling your information responsibly and in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and other applicable data-protection laws.

WIENER is currently in a pre-launch (“coming soon”) phase. Right now, the main piece of information we collect is the email address you give us to join our waitlist. The sections below also describe how the app will handle your information once it launches, so you know what to expect.

1. Scope of This Policy

This Policy applies to everyone who visits our website, joins our waitlist, creates an account, or otherwise uses the Service. It covers information about identified or identifiable individuals. It does not apply to third-party products or services that we do not control, even if you reach them through the Service.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect:

• Waitlist and contact data. The email address you submit to join the waitlist, and any message you send us.
• Account and identity data. Authentication identifiers, email address, and a unique account identifier when you create an account.
• Profile data. Your display name, avatar or profile photo, and language or app preferences.
• Friends and group data. Invite codes, friend connections, and the groups or game rooms you join, including who you play with.
• Voice chat data. The real-time microphone audio you share during a game so other players in your room can hear you (see Section 4).
• Gameplay data. Information about the games you play, such as scores, rounds, and in-game activity.
• Subscription and transaction data. Your subscription status and history. Payments are processed by the app stores and their providers, not by us, so we do not receive or store your full payment-card details.
• Device, technical, and diagnostic data. Operating system and version, device model, app version, push notification tokens, and crash or error logs.
• Support and communications data. The contents of any messages you send us, including any personal information you choose to include.
• Information about other people. If you invite friends or share information about others, you are responsible for having an appropriate basis to do so.

3. How We Collect Information

We collect information:

• directly from you, when you join the waitlist, create an account, set up a profile, or contact us;
• automatically, as you use the app and website (for example, device and diagnostic data);
• from other players, such as when a friend invites you to a group or game; and
• from the service providers we rely on to operate the Service (see Section 6).

4. Voice Chat

Group voice chat is a core part of WIENER. When you join a game room, your microphone audio is transmitted in real time to the other players in that room so you can talk while you play. By joining a voice-enabled room, you and the other participants consent to having your voice shared with everyone in that room.

We do not record or store your call audio to build a transcript or profile of you, and we do not use your voice for advertising. Voice is handled through a real-time communications provider purely to deliver it to the people you are playing with. You are responsible for ensuring that participating in voice chat is lawful in your jurisdiction, and for what you choose to say. You can mute your microphone or leave a room at any time.

5. How We Use Your Information and Legal Bases

We use the information we collect to:

• operate, maintain, and provide the Service, including matching you with friends and running games and voice chat;
• manage our waitlist and let you know when WIENER launches;
• create and secure your account and verify your identity;
• provide customer support and respond to your requests;
• improve, test, and develop new features;
• protect against fraud, abuse, and security threats; and
• comply with our legal obligations.

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (to provide the Service you ask for), our legitimate interests (to keep the Service secure and to improve it), compliance with legal obligations, and your consent (for example, to join the waitlist), which you can withdraw at any time.

6. Service Providers and Sub-Processors

We use trusted third parties to help us run the Service. They process information only on our instructions and under appropriate confidentiality and data-protection commitments. These may include:

• cloud, authentication, database, and storage providers (for example, Google Firebase and Amazon Web Services);
• a real-time communications provider for delivering voice chat between players;
• analytics and crash-reporting tools to keep the app stable;
• email and waitlist tools to manage sign-ups and communications; and
• subscription and payment providers (for example, the Apple App Store, Google Play, and RevenueCat).

7. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may share information with the service providers described above, with other players you choose to play with (such as your display name and in-game activity), where required by law or legal process, to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public, and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets where information may be transferred subject to this Policy.

8. International Data Transfers

We operate globally, and our service providers may store and process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where we transfer personal data out of the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business or legal purposes. If you join the waitlist and decide you no longer want to hear from us, you can ask us to remove your email at any time. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your profile and account data, except where we are required to retain certain information by law.

10. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing.

EEA, UK, and Switzerland. You may have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability, the right to withdraw consent, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

California. You may have the right to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, to request deletion or correction, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. As noted above, we do not sell or share your personal information within the meaning of the CCPA.

12. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it. If you are under 18, you may only use the Service with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian.

13. Cookies and Analytics

Our website uses only what is necessary to operate the site and run our waitlist. We do not use advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers. Within the app we may use privacy-respecting analytics and crash reporting to understand how features are used and to keep the Service stable.

14. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may link to third-party websites or services that we do not control. This Policy does not cover those third parties, and we encourage you to review their own privacy policies.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where the changes are material, provide additional notice through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
